God, tonight I pray for the one who is grieving the loss of someone they love this Christmas season.
God, whether it’s been a few weeks or a few years, it’s still painful. It’s still hard. So this week we ask that your presence feel so near to all who are sad. Please comfort them as only you can, and please remind each of us that this world is not all there is.
As we celebrate Christmas we remember the birth of Jesus and we remember that because of Him and through Him we can always, always have hope. Even death doesn’t have the last word—only you, Father.
So we come seeking refuge from our broken hearts and from this broken world. We come seeking you—our hope, our joy, our eternal home.
In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen
