God, sometimes it’s hard to turn it all off and get to sleep. The noise. The worries. The problems of this world.
We close our eyes and wonder if we handled that parenting situation correctly, or we replay how we messed up and yelled at the kids. We worry about that medical appointment, or we wonder how to best sort through that difficult financial situation.
We toss and turn and try in vain to figure it all out. To control it. To fix it.
And you gently whisper, “Be still and know that I am God,” and we exhale. We can breathe deeply remembering that we don’t have to figure it all out.
We remember that we are fully and completely loved by you even when we mess up…even when we fail. We remember that you are God and we are not, and as such, we don’t have to try to control everything. We remember that you are here with us in this moment and whatever we face in the next moment—you’ll be there too.
Thank you Father for your goodness, faithfulness, and love.
Please help us hand it all over to you and rest well tonight. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
